Second CNML Principle

Second CNML Principle:

Breastfeeding is the natural continuation of the childbearing cycle which begins with conception, pregnancy and childbirth.  As such, it forms an important part of
God's plan for mothers and babies.

The promotion of breastfeeding and the support of nursing mothers is the whole reason CNML exists!   Breastfeeding is part of God's plan for mothers.  It meets baby's needs for love, emotional comfort, nutrition, proper jaw development, immunity, security - there are too many benefits to name them all!  It also blesses the mother emotionally, physically and spiritually.  Sometimes, breastfeeding can be challenging, but I believe God will help you through the rough times if you ask Him.

There are sometimes incidences when a woman cannot maintain a full milk supply or provide any milk at all for her baby due to health problems.  Some women desperately want children and are unable to conceive or carry a baby to term.  Let's pray for comfort for all these women.  Also, remember that whether you have children or not, the Catholic Church teaches that ALL women are spiritual mothers.

In closing, I want to share one of my favorite quotes about breastfeeding that really goes straight to the heart of its importance:

A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three. ~Grantly Dick-Read
