Surrender
St. Therese once said, “Jesus does not demand great actions from us but simply surrender and gratitude.”
We can write the ideal birth plan, attend childbirth classes, pray for a good birth, eat healthy food and exercise, but sometimes our perfect birth doesn’t go quite as planned. The same can be true of breastfeeding. We can read great breastfeeding books, pray that breastfeeding will go smoothly, attend Catholic Nursing Mothers League online meetings, and find out about our community’s local breastfeeding resources but sometimes breastfeeding is still challenging and doesn’t go as we had imagined. The same can be true of motherhood, too. There are lots of wonderful moments but also difficult ones where we are not sure we are capable of getting through them.
In these moments, one thing we can do is to surrender to Jesus. To help you do this, I have designed a new gift bag with this in mind. I will still include the usual breastfeeding prayer cards and one decade rosary, but I have put together some additional prayer items to help you surrender motherhood and breastfeeding to Jesus.
If you would like one, please email catholicbreastfeeding@yahoo.com and I am happy to mail one out to you!
