Embrace Your Life as a Nursing Mom

Today on Substack I came across a post that was really thought provoking. It was written by Anna Tran. I don’t know much about the author. She is definitely a Christian and a mom, but past that, I don’t know much more about her. Here is what she wrote:

There is something so powerful about a Christian who owns the lane God has given to them. I get my hair done by a Christian lady from my church who loves her job and sees herself as called and anointed to do it. Let me tell you, I got my hair done and that was wow, but my soul got a refresh and my spirit new courage. Never underestimate the station God has called you to.

Bring His Kingdom wherever you go.

This made me ponder the different seasons of life and what God wants of us in those seasons.

If you are a nursing mom, embrace this season as what God is calling you to do. Your work of nursing your baby, changing her diapers, rocking her to sleep, making her laugh, and taking a nap when your baby is sleeping is God’s plan for you right now.

After each of my babies was born, I made the mistake of trying to get back to my usual routine as quickly as possible. Maybe I was worried I was not doing enough? However, in hindsight, I was doing too much. I should have let my husband dote on me more and I should have rested more. Honestly, the vacuuming really can wait! If you homeschool your children, it really is perfectly okay to take a break from after your baby is born. It is fine to let friends and family make you dinner or pick up your child from soccer while you recover and concentrate on taking care of yourself and your nursing baby. Actually letting others support you helps them fulfill what God is calling them to do.

Nursing your baby is your calling right now. Embrace it!
