Reflection on 1 John 4:8

Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:8)

A friend of mine has four children and her youngest is two. She is still nursing him, and he also eats lots of solids and drinks from a cup. The other day she was feeling a little overwhelmed because every time she sits down to rest, her son asks to nurse. She then asked him if he wanted to nurse for "love" or for "food." He completely understood her and said "love." That was one of the sweetest things I've heard recently! I hope this reminds you just how important your mothering role is. Not only is breastfeeding providing nutrition for your child but it is showing “love" to your child. And guess "who" is pure love? God! All those little seemingly things you do for your baby and for your children have infinite value in God’s eyes.
