This study looked at various research studies conducted in several different countries. It showed a potential association between breastfeeding and reduced risk of behavior problems in children.
Exclusive breastfeeding linked to long-term changes in marks on DNA, found in blood
This study found higher numbers of DNA methylation marks on genes involving immunity and developmental processes in children breastfed exclusively for three months compared to children not breastfed.
Breastfeeding provides protection against childhood overweight and obesity. Longer breastfeeding duration is associated with healthier weight in childhood. However, there are a lot of other factors that contribute to this effect. The authors feel more research needs to be done in this area.
