Met and Unmet Breastfeeding Goals Following Full-Term Deliveries
Compared to previous studies, there was a slightly lower prevalence of unmet breastfeeding goals. However, it is still important to improve in this area, because breastfeeding is so valuable to mom and baby. Also, unmet goals can impact moms’ emotional and mental health. Becoming a CNML Mentor is a great way to help moms meet their breastfeeding goals!
2026 Study: 4 factors associated with breastfeeding for one year. What are they?
This was a Swedish study that found the following four factors are associated with breastfeeding at one year: a positive breastfeeding experience, a university education, not having Swedish as their first language, and exclusive breastfeeding during the first four months.
This study looked at children ages 0-12 and found that breastfeeding assists with healthy development and immunity.
The conclusion of this study is that by educating new moms about the sufficiency of colostrum in the first few days and encouraging hand expression instead of electric pump use could help breastfeeding outcomes. Pacifier use was also discussed and it was stated that it does not reduce breastfeeding rates. Note: If you are practicing ecological breastfeeding, it is better to comfort baby at the breast.
