Seventh CNML Principle

Seventh CNML Principle:

Women have a right to be truthfully informed about the benefits of breastfeeding for themselves as well as for their babies.  Families, parishes, communities, governments and society have a responsibility to protect and strengthen cultural support for breastfeeding practices.

Breastfeeding is one of the best things a mother can do for her baby!  However, she needs accurate information and lots of support. CNML's goal is to direct mothers to the most up to date breastfeeding info and to provide that much needed support.

CNML's blog has a slightly new organizational structure.  If you haven't taken a look in a while, please do! We grouped all the breastfeeding information links and posts under the section, "Breastfeeding Management."  We hope to keep adding more links, pages and posts over time and hopefully breastfeeding podcasts in the near future.  There are also sections for Ecological Breastfeeding, NFP while Breastfeeding, Spirituality and Gentle Parenting.

There are currently organizations out there that provide support to nursing mothers but there seems to be a trend away from natural law.  This discourages many Catholic nursing mothers and many non-Catholic Christian mothers who very much desire to follow God's original design for the family and breastfeeding relationship.  CNML strives to bridge that gap between breastfeeding support and following God's law.  We have the facebook group and page, yahoo group and 7 in person groups around the country that have formed and are holding meetings.  We also send out care packages with a variety of items to those who inquire. Check out the right sidebar - "CNML Ministry" and "Connect to CNML" - for info and links to all the ways CNML supports nursing moms.

Are you looking for something special this Advent?

Are you looking for something special to do this Advent? Something that will bring you closer to Jesus and encourage you in your family life?  Then the Holy Family Institute may be just for you!

Fr. Tom Fogarty is the director of the Holy Family Institute, and he really understands how challenging family life can be!  He has given me many bits of encouraging and gentle spiritual advice over the last 13 years.  Every month he sends out an audio CD; a little meditation booklet with the Scripture verses and saint of the day listed; and a booklet with great articles about Scripture, different aspects of the Catholic faith and family life.  The Holy Family Institute also has a small prayer booklet for members to pray, and every September there is a retreat for those members and their children (including nursing babies and toddlers) who are able to attend.

Maybe you are thinking, "When does a nursing mom have time to listen to a CD or to pray more than a few invocations while changing a diaper or making dinner?" Well.....I, personally, find it most convenient to listen to my Holy Family Institute CDs and to pray my daily prayers in my car while driving or while lying down with my youngest as she drifts off to sleep for the night.  You could also listen to the monthly CD and pray while nursing your baby at different times during the day or while making dinner.  Holy Family Institute membership does not require much more than what you already are doing as a faithful Catholic mom!

Even if you are not sure if becoming a member is something you want to do or you are just curious about the Holy Family Institute, Fr. Tom is happy to send you a complimentary package or to answer any questions. Here is a link to the website.
